Ground Improvement Committee

The Ground Improvement Committee, formed in late 2007, will gather information regarding ground improvement technologies and provide educational and reference resources for those technologies. The technologies include but are not limited to vibratory stone columns, vibrocompaction, vibro concrete columns, aggregate piers, dynamic compaction, wick drains and grouted inclusions. Early goals include developing a standard wick drain specification, and organizing an educational seminar to be conducted in early 2009.

      • The committee will hold a seminar on October 12, 2010 in Hollywood, CA.  For more information click here
      • Initiatives being pursued include writing a reference specification for prefabricated vertical drains (or wick drains), preparing a guide on liquefaction mitigation, and organizing developing a Webinar - target date for completion 2010.
