The interest level for soil mixing remains high among the engineering community in the US and Canada. Other countries of interest also include Mexico and South America. The recent awareness of levee deficiencies across the nation, and the performance grading/risk analysis performed by the COE, has earmarked several levee systems and embankments as potential candidates for upgrading by improving the in-situ shear strength of the foundation soils. What better way to improve this material than by soil mixing? Port development is also another area of interest for the soil mixing process, as is seismic upgrading of embankments and earthen dams in areas of high seismic activity.
