Technical
Augered Cast-In-Place Pile
A Roster of over 30 industry wide professionals comprise this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Augered Cast-In-Place Pile Foundation systems. The Committee is responsible for the Annual Augered Cast-In-Place Piles Specialty Seminar. The Committee has produced the Augered Cast-In-Place Piles Manual, A model specification, The Inspector's Guide to Augered Cast-In-Place Piles, Augered Cast-In-Place Piles Installation Video, and The Augered Cast-In-Place Piles Inspection Video.
Codes and Standards
The Codes and Standards Committee was formed in late 2007 with the goal of concentrating on the International Building Code for deep foundations. First priority will be to monitor IBC code changes proposed by others. Committee will form alliances and attend public hearings to express DFI's opinions. Secondarily, the committee will propose, on behalf of DFI, Code changes developed by DFI technical committees. Thirdly, committee will work toward having DFI technical guidelines approved by ICC as reference documents for the Code, similar to ACI 318 and ASCE 7-10.
Deep Foundations for Landslides/Slope Stabilization
The focus of this committee will be to address non-earthwork deep foundation related technologies utilized for stabilization of landslides and slopes. Their purpose encompasses a topic that involves various techniques already carried out by DFI members. The need for an industry resource in support of landslide /slope stabilization issues is driving the idea of creating this technical committee to concentrate on the unique issues in this specialized field.
Drilled Shaft
A Committee of industry wide professionals comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Drilled Shaft Foundation systems.
Driven Pile
A Roster of over 20 industry wide professionals comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Driven Pile Foundation systems. The Committee is responsible for the Driven Pile Workshop Series and Driven Pile Seminars throughout the world. The Committee has produced the Inspector's Guide to Driven Foundation Piling, Driven Foundation Piling: A catalog of available sections by type, Driven Sheet Piling: A catalog of available sections by type. A Model Specification is forthcoming.
Ground Improvement
The Ground Improvement Committee, formed in late 2007, will gather information regarding ground improvement technologies and provide educational and reference resources for those technologies. The technologies include but are not limited to vibratory stone columns, vibrocompaction, vibro concrete columns, aggregate piers, dynamic compaction, wick drains and grouted inclusions. Early goals include developing a standard wick drain specification, and organizing an educational seminar to be conducted in early 2009.
Helical Pile and Tiebacks
A Committee formed of manufacturers, engineers, academicians, suppliers and experienced contractors to provide a forum for discussion of the applications and limitations of this foundation element.
Marine Foundations
A Committee of industry wide professionals who design, construct and supply equipment for marine projects such as wharfs, bridges, locks, utility line towers, sewer outfalls, tunnels and other related structures comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Marine Foundation Design and Construction.
Micropile
A Committee of industry wide professionals comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Micropile Foundation Technology. The Committee operates jointly with the ADSC Micropile Committee visiting the state of practice regularly through seminars and global workshops.
Seismic & Lateral Loads
A Committee formed in December of 2004 consisting of industry wide professionals to focus on the unique issues of seismic design and construction as well as related concerns of other lateral load issues such as may apply in marine applications, ice and permafrost regions.
Slurry Wall
A Committee of industry wide professionals comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Slurry Wall Technology. The Committee plans to visit the state of practice regularly through specialty seminars.
Soil Mixing
A Committee of industry wide professionals comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Soil Mixing Technology.
Sustainability
Formed in 2008, this committee is tasked with looking at sustainability practices for deep foundations construction and will report on the relative sustainability of different deep foundations techniques. Initial topics to be explored include, but are not limited to: 1)Re-use of Existing Foundations; 2) Construction Site Waste Management; 3) Carbon Footprinting; 4) Efficient Use of Resources/Local Supplies; 5) Use of Low Energy Materials; 6) Use of Green Fuels; and 7) Economy and Efficiency in Equipment.
Testing and Evaluation
A Committee of industry wide professionals comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of the many testing methods of the various foundation systems. The Committee has produced a developer and user oriented seminar program to discuss the state of practice in deep foundation testing.
Tiebacks & Soil Nailing
A Committee of industry wide professionals who design, construct and supply equipment for temporary and permanent retaining structures using tiebacks or soil nailing techniques comprises this Committee involved in the support and understanding of Soil Nailing and Tiebacks.
Topical
Distinguished Service Awards
The DFI annually recognizes leaders in the deep foundation design and construction industry for their lifetime contributions to the profession. The DFI nominating committee considers the merits of the nominated potential recipients and ranks them. The winner is chosen based on a Board of Trustee vote of the highest rated nominees. The award is presented at the DFI Annual Conference on Deep Foundations.

International
A Committee charged with promoting DFI's mission on a global scale. Responsible for DFI International Conferences. Established to provide a forum for technology transfer and dialogue between the regional industries on an international scale. The International Committee is proud to announce the incorporation of DFI Europe on September 22, 2005.
Middle East Committee
Committee Members are Consultants, Contractors, Government Authorities, Universities and Manufacturers

Mission
- To educate the Practicing Engineers, contractors and authorities on the Deep Foundation Institute's vision and other technical activities

- To hold different educational seminars in different engineering and construction areas in the middle east and participate in such technical seminars organized elsewhere in the middle east

- To organize other specialty seminars in coordination with other DFI Technical Committees to have their specialty seminars in the Middle East.

- The Committee is responsible for the Annual Piling and deep foundation summit in different areas in the middle east

- To impart knowledge of breakthroughs in research and technology, dissemination of knowledge, recognize challenging projects and reward them

- To conduct specialized training courses, short seminars, arrange field visits to special projects.

- To cooperate and coordinate with other professional organizations in the Middle East to achieve our above stated objectives.
Nominating
The Nominating Committee of at least three members in good standing appointed by the President, shall nominate a slate of candidates for election to the Board of Trustees not later than three months prior to the next Annual Meeting. The number of candidates so nominated shall be equal to the number of Trustees whose terms will expire at such Annual Meeting plus any vacancy that also exists at such Meeting.
Outstanding Project

Event Planning
37th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations
Each year a group of deep foundation professionals from the local area are chosen to organize DFI's Annual Conference. Their responsibilities include review of paper submissions, coordination of the technical program, organizing of the exhibition and promotion of the event. This year the committee is comprised of DFI members from the Boston, Massachusetts area.
