DFI President

James A. Morrison is the corporate geotechnical manager with Kiewit Engineering, a division of Peter Kiewit Sons Inc., and is responsible for providing and coordinating geotechnical consulting expertise to all of the Kiewit companies. He is involved in a full spectrum of deep foundation and earth support system selection, design, construction, and implementation across North America. He is actively involved on many high-profile projects that incorporate state-of-the-art deep foundation systems. Current projects include the new Oakland – San Francisco Bay Bridge, the Benicia – Martinez Bridge, and the second Tacoma Narrows bridge projects.

He was previously a vice president with Woodward Clyde, responsible for the civil engineering practice in the Cleveland Ohio office, and establishing Woodward Clyde of Canada. Jim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University. He is a member of several technical societies, and has made numerous presentations on deep foundation and earth support systems at Universities and technical seminars. Jim is a registered professional engineer in several states, Ontario, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

DFI Executive Director

Theresa Rappaport was appointed to the position of Executive Director effective July 1, 2006. She served as Assistant Director and Operations Manager of the Deep Foundations Institute since 1998. Prior to her work with the DFI, Theresa worked as Administrative Assistant for the National Timber Piling Council and Marketing Analyst for C.M. Almy & Son Inc.

Theresa graduated from Rye High School and attended Fairfield University. She resides in Warwick, NY with her husband and three sons. She served on the board of the Kings Elementary School PTA for 8 years and remains active in the Warwick Valley School District parent/teacher associations. Theresa is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives and their chapters in New York and New Jersey.

DFI Headquarters Staff

Staff Management is effected by a staff consisting of an Executive Director and support staff. The Executive Director is responsible to the Executive Committee, chaired by the President.
