1 Probabilistic Evaluation of Bearing Capacity of Drilled Piles in Clay

Techniques for probabilistic approaches to geotechnical problems are coming in use in the last years. In particular this paper is dealing with baring capacity of piles. Two different approaches are possible: 1) An analytical approach, in which the uncertainties in the problem are statistically evaluated and enclosed in the probabilistic model. 2) a concise approach where all the uncertainties are represented by a coefficient K which is probabilistically evaluated, by using literature results also. The first approach has been developed in a previous communication. In this work we try to evidentiate variability of lateral and toe bearing capacity of drilled piles in clay as a function of variability of undrained cohesion.
