Pile Bearing Capacity Prediction with Cone Penetration Test and Dynamic Loading Test

In the last decade dynamic measurements of pile driving and wave analysis are very often used in civil engineering. In many cases this kind of pile testing has become a very useful substitute for the static loading test. On the other hand, soil investigation with a static cone penetrometer has become widely used too, due to the rapid development of exploration techniques and the many correlations between cone penetration data and basic geotechnical parameters. In this article the results of CPT data and dynamic loading tests after completion of driving and during redriving for some typical sites are elaborated. In the next phase a comparison between CPT data and the results of dynamic tests for typical soil layers has been made. The result of the comparison as mentioned will prove to be a useful tool for predicting the final pile bearing capacity and bearing capacity at the end of driving. The latter is especially important for designing an installation procedure in pile driving.
