A comparison of different sheet-pile installation methods
C. Legrand, D. Van Rompaey, J. Menten

This paper shows the results of different sheet-pile driving test on a job site in Hingene (Belgium). As part of a research project, a series of sheet-pile drivings were performed on the job site. The present available vibratory hammers can be subdivided in three categories: the classic vibratory hammers with frequencies below 1800 rpm, the high frequency hammers with frequencies above 1800 rpm and the vibratory hammers with vairable eccentricity. During many different drivings at the test site, sheet-piles with two different lengths were installed with a representative of each category of vibratory hammers. The paper compares the three vibratory hammers on the aspects drivability, induced stresses and induced soil vibrations.
