Static and dynamic testing of steel tubular piles for a LNG loading facility in Brunei

The paper reviews the pile testing carried out for an extension and new berth on the end of a 4.5 km long LNG jetty in Brunel. The jetty extension is founded on open ended steel tubular piles of 813 mm and 1014 mm diameter, driven up to 32 m into the sea bed. The equipment and procedures for installation and testing of the 3 test piles are described. The results of static testing are compared with those of dynamic testing of the test piles, and the dynamic test results for production piles reviewed. Finally comments are made on the suitability of the testing regime.
