DFI announces that Matthew Glisson, P.E., is joining the institute as the director of technical activities, starting February 14. In this role, he will liaise with the technical committee chairs to ensure that DFI’s technical programs are high quality, accurate and relevant to current industry practice and needs. These programs include committee research, publications, conference and seminar content, as well as speaker/paper solicitation. Glisson will also identify new collaborative opportunities in the deep foundations industry.
“We are very excited to have Matthew join DFI as the director of technical activities,” says Theresa Engler, executive director of DFI. “As a long-time DFI member, an active committee member and an experienced geotechnical engineer, he is ideally suited to direct DFI’s technical programs and future goals.”
Glisson has over 20 years of experience as a consulting geotechnical engineer, most recently as a technical leader and principal engineer with Braun Intertec in St. Louis, Missouri, where he led the company’s deep foundations group. He was responsible for coordinating, performing and reviewing design and testing on deep foundation projects, and in developing and evaluating geotechnical engineering policies. Glisson has extensive experience providing recommendations for design of a variety of deep foundation systems; performing and evaluating static and dynamic load testing; and performing and interpreting integrity tests, including low-strain integrity tests, cross-hole sonic tests, parallel seismic tests and thermal profiling. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Marquette University and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
