2019-20 DFI Traveling Lecture at ASCE Geo-Institute Pittsburgh Chapter Dinner Meeting

March 19, 2020

This Lecture Was Delivered as a Webinar.
Due to concerns with attending large gatherings during the Coronavirus outbreak, ASCE Geo-Institute Pittsburgh Chapter and DFI decided to present this lecture as a webinar so that attendees could still hear and learn from the lecture and receive a professional development hour for attending.

Each person wishing to receive a PDH certificate was to separately register and login to hear the lecture. There was no cost to attend this online lecture

The 2019-20 DFI Traveling Lecturer Willie M. NeSmith, P.E., delivered his presentation on the Application of Cast in Place Piles in Intermediate Geomaterials at ASCE Pittsburgh's Geo-Institute Dinner Meeting.

The presentation focused on how the development of more powerful and robust installation platforms has made it feasible to install cast-in-place piles into materials once considered too resistant for the system. This lecture reviewed current installation platforms and tooling and presented case histories for installation in soft limestone, partially weathered rock, shale and glacial till.
